Healtcare for women - like they should be

Dr.Dropin wants to change attitudes about women's health by contributing information and enlightenment. Many of the diseases in women's health are underdiagnosed and there is a lack of knowledge among those who meet the patients first.

Our gynaecologists have expertise in women's health, and both doctors and gynaecologists at Dr. Dropin take women's health seriously.

Our vision is simple but powerful

Our goal is to reach out to more women to increase knowledge about diseases that many women live with, with the goal of avoiding unnecessary frustration, suffering and insecurity. It is not just about the woman herself gaining more knowledge, but also about relatives, friends, employers and more, also gaining an understanding of the diseases.

To achieve this, we have, among other things, entered into a collaboration with Iselin Guttormsen, who is also passionate about women and women's health.

Together with Iselin Guttormsen, Dr.Dropin and Daniel Sørli, medical officer at Dr.Dropin, have made a video that gives you more knowledge about Endometriosis and PCOS.

#sjekkdeg and the HPV virus

September is the #sjekkdeg month. Most women know that we check to prevent cervical cancer, but few people know that cervical cancer comes from the HPV virus. The HPV virus is our most common sexually transmitted infection, and not chlamydia as many believe.

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)

Condoms are the safest thing we have to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. Condom use in Norway is increasing, but still half choose not to use a condom when having sex but a new partner. In Norway, we are fortunate to have a good and accessible healthcare system, which contributes to many people shrugging their shoulders and instead focusing on curing afterwards. It is neither good for individual nor collective health to take more antibiotics than necessary, it contributes to the bacteria becoming resistant and the medicine losing its effect.

If left untreated for too long, sexually transmitted infections can have consequences such as pelvic infections, epididymitis, and infertility. Our advice to prevent infection is to use condoms and get tested between new sexual partners. This helps keep the infection rates low and ensures that potential infections are not left untreated or transmitted further.

Dr. Daniel Sørli and Iselin Guttormsen discuss this topic. Watch the video in the link below.

The problem surrounding endometriosis and PCOS

More than 10% of women live with gynecological diseases that lead to unnecessary suffering, frustration and insecurity. Two of these diseases are Endometriosis and PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

Endometriosis can cause severe and unbearable pain during menstruation because uterine tissue grows in places it should not normally and can lead to involuntary infertility. 1 in 10 women suffers from endometriosis.

PCOS causes the hormones to be out of balance. The eggs in the ovaries do not mature and turn into fluid-filled cavities. Ovulation is absent and for 75% of those with PCOS it can be difficult to get pregnant. In addition, PCOS can lead to abnormal hair growth, obesity and pimples. 15% of women are affected by PCOS.

The numbers speak for themselves. It is important for society that women's health is put on the agenda. Gynecological diseases are not talked about enough and lead to women living with a shame and a disorder that is not taken seriously. Our gynecologists want to offer a safe medical appointment where you are seen and heard.

All our gynecologists can advise and help you if you experience severe pain.

Pelvic pain during pregnancy

About one in five pregnant women get pelvic pain in Norway every year. The pain can come both early and late in pregnancy. They are often located at the two pelvic joints at the back of the pelvis, but can also be in front of the symphysis (pubic bone). The pain can radiate to the seat and back of the thighs. Walking, sitting and standing over time, posture change, forward bending and lifting are often painful.
