Symptoms of atopic eczema
Dry skin: The skin is often very dry and rough.
Itching: Intense itching is a common symptom, especially at night.
Red spots: The skin may have red, inflamed spots.
Rash: The rash may be oozing or crusty.
Location: Eczema often occurs on the face, scalp, elbows and knees in infants, and in the elbows and knees in older children and adults.
Treatment of atopic eczema
Moisturizers: Using moisturizers is important to keep the skin soft and reduce itching.
Cortisone creams: In case of flare-ups, cortisone creams can reduce inflammation and itching.
Other medications: In some cases, other medications, such as immunomodulating creams or tablets, may be necessary.
Avoid irritants: Avoid soaps, perfumes and other products that can irritate the skin.
