Pelvic floor muscles
The pelvic floor muscles are located in the pelvic area and form the base of the pelvis. The pelvic floor is responsible, among other things, for enabling us to control urine, gas, and feces, providing support for internal organs such as the bladder, uterus, and intestines. Additionally, these muscles play a crucial role in sexual function.
At Dr. Dropin, we have skilled practitioners who can assess your pelvic floor and help you receive the appropriate treatment.

Weak or tight pelvic floor muscles
Many women, especially after pregnancy, childbirth, and during menopause, experience involuntary leakage of urine, prolapse/pelvic organ prolapse, directly associated with weak pelvic floor muscles.
Additionally, there are various issues related to overly tight pelvic muscles, including vaginismus and endometriosis. These problems often lead to pain and discomfort in the pelvic region and chain.
Physiotherapists at Dr.Dropin Fysikalske can examine and assist in improving the connection, circulation, and control of the pelvic floor muscles, as well as strengthening the muscles to alleviate the issues many women experience.
See availabilityManometry | measurement of the pelvic floor muscles
At Dr. Dropin, you can measure the strength of your pelvic floor muscles. Our physiotherapists use a manometer, a balloon catheter with the size of a tampon. The catheter is connected to a software that displays your individual values in the form of graphs and curves.
The catheter is inserted a couple of cm into the vagina, at the level of the pelvic floor muscles, and will record pressure changes. You will be instructed to try to tense the muscles as much as possible, do maximum squeezes, as well as sustained squeezes to examine resting pressure, maximum strength and endurance in the pelvic floor.
Based on the information, you get an individually adapted exercise program to improve the function and strength of the pelvic floor. With the manometer, our physiotherapists can measure progress and ensure that the muscles are being trained correctly. It is not uncommon for people to cite making contact with the muscles or to "pinch" incorrectly.
