What is arthrosis

Osteoarthritis is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder, and is one of the most common causes of pain, functional impairment and disability in the elderly. It is estimated that half of the population will develop osteoarthritis during their lifetime - it is therefore important to take measures that can give patients the right treatment.

What is AktivA?

Arthritis is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder, and is one of the most common causes of pain, functional impairment and disability in the elderly. It is estimated that half of the population will develop osteoarthritis during their lifetime - it is therefore important to take measures that can give patients the right treatment.

AktivA (Active with Artrosis) is a standardized program for conservative treatment of arthritis, which has been developed through a collaboration between Oslo University Hospital and the University of Oslo. It is based on new research and national guidelines, and the aim is to implement these guidelines for patients with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis in clinical physiotherapy practice.

The guidelines emphasize information, exercise and weight reduction. The aim is for all patients with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis in Norway to be offered this evidence-based treatment.

What you get from AktivA

Participation in the AktivA program at Dr. Dropin Fysikalske involves a knowledge-based information and training program with a physiotherapist for patients with knee and/or hip osteoarthritis.

The price for the program package is NOK 1,895,–

Part 2: Arthritis-school

Arthritis school consists of a 3-hour course with information about osteoarthritis, treatment and diet, as well as advice on what you can do to prevent it.

Part 2: Consultation

After osteoarthritis school, you get an examination and adaptation of an individual training program. This involves a 40-minute examination by a physiotherapist, in addition to a 40-minute PT session with a review of the individual treatment plan.

Part 3: Training program

The examination is followed by a 40-minute review of an individual treatment plan with a PT, tailored to your needs.

Do you wish to be examined by a physiotherapist?

For some, it is better to begin with an individual consultation with a physiotherapist. This may suit you if you:

  • Are unsure whether you have osteoarthritis and want to be examined
  • Have pain or stiffness in joints for no known reason
  • Have already completed "active with osteoarthritis" and wish to proceed to the next step
  • Prefer to start treatment and training as soon as possible

If it turns out that you wish to commit to the entire package solution, you will be offered this during the consultation. If you want an individual assessment, you can easily set up an appointment with Steinar at our clinic at Majorstuen. Steinar is a certified "active with osteoarthritis" therapist and is responsible for the implementation of the osteoarthritis school and the individual examinations and follow-up sessions.
