Mole check and sun safety
Summer is a time for sunshine, swimming, and outdoor activities. We Norwegians love enjoying the long, bright days, and it's important to get enough time outside when summer finally arrives. However, excessive sun exposure can damage our skin and increase the risk of skin cancer, including melanoma. In fact, statistics from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) show that melanoma is one of the fastest-growing cancers in Norway, with over 2,500 new cases registered in 2023. (source: FHI)
Sun safety and prevention
Fortunately, there's a lot we can do to protect our skin and reduce the risk of skin cancer. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF (at least SPF 30) whenever you're out in the sun, even on cloudy days. Avoid direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day, and cover your skin with clothing like long-sleeved shirts, pants, and hats. Protect your eyes with sunglasses that block UV rays. Make it a habit to check your skin regularly for new moles or changes in existing ones.
FotoFinder: Safe skin monitoring
At Dr.Dropin, we offer mole checks with advanced FotoFinder technology. FotoFinder is an innovative system that takes high-resolution images of your entire skin, and these images are analyzed by both a computer and an experienced dermatologist.
FotoFinder was featured on "God Morgen Norge," where our dermatologist demonstrated how effective this tool is for detecting skin cancer early. Watch the segment here
Benefits of FotoFinder
FotoFinder can detect even the smallest changes in moles, which can be difficult to see with the naked eye. The system can identify potential signs of skin cancer at an early stage, which is crucial for successful treatment. The Melanoma Association emphasizes that early detection increases the chance of recovery to over 90%. You can feel confident that you are receiving a thorough and professional assessment of your skin.
