Endometriosis and PCOS
More than 10% of women live with gynecological diseases that lead to unnecessary suffering, frustration and insecurity. The diseases are underdiagnosed and there is a lack of knowledge among those who meet the patients first. Dr.Dropin wants to change attitudes about women's health by contributing information and enlightenment in society. This time we focus on the two diseases that affect most women: endometriosis and PCOS.
- Endometriosis can cause severe and unbearable pain during menstruation because uterine tissue grows in places it should not normally and can lead to involuntary infertility. 1 in 10 women suffers from endometriosis.
- PCOS causes the hormones to be out of balance. The eggs in the ovaries do not mature and turn into fluid-filled cavities. Ovulation is absent and for 75% of those with PCOS it can be difficult to get pregnant. In addition, PCOS can lead to abnormal hair growth, obesity and pimples. 15% of women are affected by PCOS.
The numbers speak for themselves. It is important for society that women's health is put on the agenda. Gynecological diseases are not talked about enough and lead to women living with a shame and a disorder that is not taken seriously.
Collaboration with Iselin Guttormsen
Our goal is to reach out to more women to increase knowledge about diseases that many women live with, with the goal of avoiding unnecessary frustration, suffering and insecurity. It is not just about the woman herself gaining more knowledge, but also about relatives, friends, employers and more, also gaining an understanding of the diseases.
To achieve this, we have, among other things, entered into a collaboration with Iselin Guttormsen, who is also passionate about women and women's health.
Together with Iselin Guttormsen, Dr.Dropin and Daniel Sørli, medical officer at Dr.Dropin, have made a video that gives you more knowledge about Endometriosis and PCOS.
